As a Key Club member, you have a crucial role in attracting new members to the organization. By using these techniques and tools, you can enhance your club’s growth and engagement.

  • Map out your recruitment plan. Set clear and measurable goals. Identify target numbers and break your plan into actionable steps, such as hosting a service or social event and reaching out to potential members.
  • Be visible. Post photos and videos of Key Club members in action during service projects — and engage with followers to create curiosity.
  • Start with last year’s members. Before seeking new members, engage with members from the previous school year. Offer incentives for early sign-ups and give special recognition to returning members.
  • Seek out new members. Encourage your club leaders to actively seek potential members. Suggest that they attend school events, collaborate with other student organizations and connect with students who share an interest in service and leadership.

As you work to build your club’s membership, keep in mind the resources Key Club makes available to you:

  • Personal invitations. Attract new Key Club members by inviting students to join you in service and leadership. Use these flyers and cards to let people know how to join your club.
  • Recruitment posters. Before the new school year begins, share posters on your club’s website and through social media to build excitement for joining Key Club. Most clubs create their own, but you don’t have to start from scratch.
  • Tri-fold brochure. This brochure explains the benefits of Key Club membership to potential members and their parents or guardians.
  • Key Club brand guide. This handy resource will help you remember the Key Club colors and fonts when you make your own recruitment materials.
