Showers to flowers

Into each life, a little rain must fall. But don’t forget that April showers bring May flowers. Or so they say. “They” say a lot of things, don’t they?

For example, they also say:

  • Keep your head up.
  • A smile is just a frown turned upside down.
  • One bad apple won’t spoil the bushel.
  • Every cloud has a silver lining.
  • Slow and steady wins the race.

While it’s important to remember that the grapevine may contain sour grapes, such little sayings typically offer gentle reminders on how to live your best life.

The showers to flowers one, for example, has as much to do with life as it does the weather: From bad things, new—sometimes better—things arise, just as rain brings flowers.

The trick is to remember that during the storm. So when you see dark clouds gathering on your life, huddle down for a moment, but then look for those rays of sunshine because they are bound to be there soon.—Shanna Mooney
