Kids from low-income families lose more than three times as much learning during summer as their middle-income peers; by fifth grade, they can be as much as two years behind in reading, according to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. But your Kiwanis-family club can easily make a difference this summer by joining with the Boys & Girls Clubs and Walmart in making a promise to read.
To make sure every kid starts the new school year ready to succeed, Boys & Girls Clubs have partnered with Walmart to provide books to kids this summer in exchange for your promise to read with a child. For every five promises made, Walmart will put a book in the hands of a child, up to 1,500 books total.
Help keep kids smart this summer by telling everyone you know to make a promise worth reading. Visit The Boys & Girls Club of America to make yours.
