  • A celebration of Key Club

Key Club plaqueThis historical plaque was erected at Sanford High School in Sanford, Florida, to commemorate Key Club becoming Key Club International during the 1st Annual Key Club International Convention in 1943. Malcolm Lewis, the first Key Club International president, was elected at this convention. Later moved to what is now Seminole High School, the plaque now resides outside the guidance department.

Recently, the Florida District located the plaque that commemorated this significant moment in Key Club's history. Malcolm K. Lewis, the first Key Club International president and G. H. Martin, who has a fellowship named after him, are listed on the plaque for their exceptional support to Key Club.

Thank you to Mr. Mike Gaudreau, Seminole’s principal, and Jose Josinvil who took the picture of the plaque.

  • Trick or Treat for UNICEF: 60 years strong

For 60 years now, children in the United States have dressed in costume on Halloween night and gone door to door collecting coin donations for UNICEF. Since 1994, Key Club has joined in the fun Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF, a worldwide organization that, like Kiwanis, is dedicated to serving children’s needs. Over the years, Key Clubbers—with help from Builders Clubs—have raised nearly $5 million for iodine deficiency programs worldwide, HIV and AIDS programs in Kenya and Swaziland and, most recently, Operation Uruguay: Protecting the Rights of Children.

Join Key Club in their effort to raise $1.5 million for Operation Uruguay by Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF.  Builders Clubs and Key Clubs should receive their collection boxes in September. Order any extra collection boxes by e-mailing Kiwanis member services, or by calling 1-317-875-8755, ext. 411 (Worldwide) or 1-800-KIWANIS, ext. 411 (US and Canada).
