Key Club sends Valentines to troops

Fridley High School Key Clubbers make valentinesLove is in the air for at least one Key Club! For the seventh consecutive year, the Fridley High School Key Club (Minnesota) is making Valentines to send to troops serving in Iraq. Along with its local Kiwanis Club, the FHS Key Club is writing letters once a week and sending care packages to soldiers stationed on the front lines in Iraq.

Each handmade Valentine contains a personal, handwritten note stating how much Key Club appreciates and supports its U.S. troops. The club is hoping to surpass last year’s production of 410 Valentines this year.

The Fridley Key Club aims to enlighten the spirits of every soldier by saying thank you and reminding them how much they are appreciated.

How is your Key Club spreading the love this Valentine’s Day?

This Valentine's Day we are doing a project right in our school at Pembroke Academy!  We did this project a few years ago and it is back by popular demand by the seniors.  We get together as many key club members as possible, scissors, and lots of pink paper.  We also get a list of every student's name in the entire school.  Together, we write out every students name on a pink heart that we cut out.  We then post these on the cafeteria windows.  The students all kind of have a scavenger hunt to find their heart with their friends and take it down.  It was cool to walk around school on Valentine's Day because the majority of students were wearing their hearts by the end of the day taped on their clothes.  It helped to add a little fun to the day for everybody.  Additionally, it was easy and fun for us (even though it did take a while to hand-write all the Valentines), and it helped get the word about what Key Club is out in the school...because everybody was asking who made the hearts!
