MAGIC UNVEILED
Key Club takes over Orlando for 2012 convention
photos by Shawn Spence

More than 1,600 Key Clubbers from
nations around the world—Canada,
Jamaica, Aruba and the United States,
to name a few—brought some magic of
their own to Orlando, Florida, for the 69th
Annual Key Club International Convention,
July 4–8.
In just four days, Key Clubbers did it
all: They made tons of new friends, won
awards for amazing service and danced
to raise money for The Eliminate Project:
Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal
tetanus. Key Club members also voted for
the organization’s new international leaders,
learned more about how they can
make a difference during workshops, and
shared their favorite service project ideas
at the Service Fair.
Of course, there was also time for food, fun,
souvenir shopping and sights in Downtown
Disney, just across the street from the convention
hotel.
- FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS: Eden Sher, actress
on ABC’s TV show “The Middle,” shared
her story of overcoming her insecurities to
follow her dreams.
- GIRL POWER: This year marks the 35th
anniversary of girls being allowed to join Key
Club. Lisa Cross and Renee Wetstein, the first
female Key Club International trustees, joined
Annie Lewandowski and past female Key
Club International presidents Lauren Kapsky
and Abigail McKamey on stage to recognize
the great impact girls have had on Key Club.
“Hey Orlando, that was legit fun times tonight. Thanks for the love. #keyclub12"

- TRICKY TRICKY: Justin “Kredible” Willman
amazed the crowd Friday night with his
one-man magic show.
- DO THE MATH: Key Clubbers raised
US$538 in two minutes—that’s only 120 seconds!—
at Thursday night’s Dance 2 Eliminate.
That equals almost 300 women and their future
babies protected or saved from maternal
and neonatal tetanus.
