Title: Bembe schoolchildren have the Key Club blues

Students at the Building Tomorrow Academy of Bembe in Uganda are getting their new uniforms—and they’re appropriately “Key Club blue.”

The color blue has long been recognized as a key color for Kiwanis and Key Club alike. When the Bembe students don their new school uniforms, it’s as if they’re giving a daily shout-out to their Key Club friends around the world. After all, Key Club raised more than US$32,000 to help build the school in Bembe. And in September 2007, 11 Key Club representatives from eight US states traveled to Uganda to lay the foundation stones for the new school, working side-by-side and hand-in-hand with Bembe community members.

The Building Tomorrow Academy of Bembe officially opened its doors in May 2008.
